Rivers State New Polytechnic Approved By FG

Quality education has been the sole aim of the Federal Government as a new Federal Polytechnic has been approved for Rivers State by the federal government to ensure that the people of the state gets access to quality education.

The Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike said that the approved institution will be called Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas and will be situated in Bonny, Rivers State.

The federal government also approved the sum of N1 billion as take-off grant for the polytechnic to commence academic activities and also appointed the pioneer principal administrative officers for the institution.

Professor Elijah Tamuno Iyagba was named the rector, while Mr. Willabo A. Gilbert is to serve as registrar. Mr Akpomeyoma Gabriel is the Bursar and Mr Ata John Woke Ajala will be the polytechnic librarian.

The presidency urged the appointed officers to ensure that the polytechnic starts academic activities as soon as possible.
