Group Protest Recent NYSC Batch ‘B’ Posting

A group on Saturday, took to the streets in Bayelsa State to protest the posting of their children and wards to the North by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for the batch ‘b’ 2014 service year.

The group known as, United for Goodluck Success Campaign, which consists of parents and guardians expressed fear that their children were going on a mission of no return.

They said that since Boko Haram unleashed mayhem on the country, particularly in the Northern part of the country, their youths had been murdered in cold blood.

Mrs. Favour Alafuro, the National Women Leader of the group who led the protest, called on the Federal and State Governments to intervene in their collective concerns and prevail on the NYSC authorities to drop the idea as the current unabated insecurity in the North is a threat to the life of their wards. “We are saying no! When the region is safe, we have no reason to object to the Nysc posting.

Unfortunately, the North, including the Federal Capital Territory is unsafe”, the parents exclaimed.

The protesters lauded the scheme for the way it unified Nigerians but vowed not to stop their protest until the review of the posting policy.

The protest took place along the popular Yenagoa- Mbiama Road in Yenagoa metropolis, Bayelsa State.
