Oko Poly Lecturers Kicks Against Planned CBT Method Of Examination

Lecturers at Federal Polytechnic, Oko have kicked against plan by the management of the institution to use Computer Based Test (CBT) method to conduct examinations for their students.

It was gathered that lecturers of the institution, led by the former Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Oko chapter, Dr Onyeka Uwakwe, had completed plans to lead a protest against management's resolve to use the computer to administer examination for the students today.

However, the students in a five-page petition to the Rector, Professor Godwin Onu, dated August 1, 2014 and signed by the President, Students Union Government (SUG), Martin Umeokonkwo and the Speaker of House of Parliament, Nwali Paul described the computer method of administering examination as the best for them argueing that the method would check the menace of missing scripts, sales of unauthorized text books by lecturers, extortion, improved marking and computation speed, amongst others.

They added that it is a good thing that the institution is embracing technology as it sets example for other institutions across the country.
