Industrial Court Barred UNIABUJA New VC From Office

Professor Micheal Adikwu the newly appointed Vice-ChancellorDrama of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), has been barred from assuming office by the industrial court.

An ex-parte order signed by the president of the Industrial Court, Justice B.A. Adejumo, was issued yesterday, following an application by a university lecturer, Dr. Raji Rasheed, and two others who alleged that there were irregularities during the appointment of the new VC by the governing council.

The applicants asked the court to restrain Adikwu from parading himself as the Vice Chancellor, pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The lecturers alleged that eight out of the 13-member Governing Council of the university elected Prof. Adikwu as Vice Chancellor despite the fact that he came third in the screening process.

However, members of the labour unions in the university have endorsed the new VC distancing themselves from the purported suit from some lecturers.
