3 Niger Delta University Students Killed In Campus Cult War

The students of Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, Amassomma, Bayelsa State were terrified through-out the days of the semester examination in school as rival cult groups waged war against each other.

It was reported that a 300 level engineering student and two final year students were killed during the fracas between AY and Vagas cult groups in the institution.

An eyewitness from the university said that the final year male student was killed by a group of cultists who stormed the examination hall while the unnamed 300 level student was inflicted with machete cuts and later died in a private hospital at Amassoma where he was rushed to.

Though the school authority couldn’t be reached as at the time of this report, the commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Mr. Hilary Opara, confirmed the cult activities on the campus but denied knowledge of any death.

Opara said, “It is not true, not even one person died.

There was some cult activity and during the process one of them was inflicted with machete cuts but the victim did not die”.

He said that investigation is ongoing and that arrests has been made regarding the situation.
