The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) administered the Hippocratic Oath on the new doctors at the solemn event attended by parents and well-wishers at the university auditorium.
The registrar of the council, Dr AbdulMumeen Ibrahim, represented by Dr Victor Gbenro, urged the doctors to acquaint themselves with the code of ethics and abide by its provisions.
He warned that it is illegal to practise without licence. Ibrahim charged them to represent the country well and be good ambassadors of their school, saying the society expects a lot from them.
Delivering a lecture entitled, “Serving three Masters: The Interplay between Medicine, Literature and Politics”, a former House of Representatives member, Dr Wale Okediran, who noted that medicine requires many years of study and hard work, said it goes with a lot of responsibilities. (Leadership)
