serve his sentence at the Warri Prison, Okere. The presiding judge at Effurun High Court 1, Justice Kujaobola Onadike, said that the court had overwhelming evidence before it against the accused to pass the guilty verdict and accordingly pronounced the 14-year sentence. However, the mother of the victim, Mrs Grace Jehovah, expressed appreciation that justice had finally come the way of her daughter but she hoped the teacher would have gotten a harsher penalty like life imprisonment for his crime.
She also accused the school’s management of complicity and alleged that they tried to intimidate her from getting justice for her daughter.
I hope this serves as a deterrent to other rapists in the society as it’s an awful thing to do.
