Imo State Crimes Committed By Students -Governor Okorocha

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has alleged that students of the state are the perpetrators of different crimes committed in the state.

Okorocha disclosed that over 60 percent of criminals in Imo state were students who involves in kidnapping, prostitution, robbery and many other crimes.

He however stated that since he introduced the free education programme, the crime rate in the state has significantly dropped.

“The level of kidnapping has dropped. The level of prostitution has gone down. Of the criminals in the state, 80 percent of them are student’s abuse of money. When you help them out with money, their needs drop,” Okorocha reasoned.

The governor also asserted his government's commitment in reactivating the State Prerogative of Mercy Committee so that the state prisons will be decongested.
