UNN has released the details of the acceptance fees payment procedures for the 2015/2016 newly admitted students

This is to inform our readers that UNN has released the details of the acceptance fees payment procedures for the 2015/2016 newly admitted students. Please if in anyway you have any question or contribution we advice you use the comment box below .

Candidates offered provisional admission are required to follow this guidelines to regularize 

 

1) Visit the University of Nigeria website (www.unn.edu.ng) or portal (unnportal.unn.edu.ng), log in your JAMB Registration number to generate and download a unique Payment Invoice for acceptance fee. Take the Invoice to any branch of  Zenith bank, UBA, Fidelity Bank, Access Bank  and First Bank  on the e-tranzact platform to pay twenty five thousand naira (N25,000.00) acceptance fee. Ensure that the Invoice Number is keyed in appropriately at the bank and obtain a confirmation slip containing a Confirmation Number and your Invoice Number.
2) Return to the University portal and login with your JAMB Registration Number, the Confirmation Number and Invoice Number, then print the Admission slip and complete the Acceptance Form online.
3) Proceed with other fee payments and registration as indicated on the University of Nigeria website.

University of Nigeria, UNN Lecturer Commits Suicide

Another not so wonderful story coming from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka few days after the reported fisticuffs between the Postgraduate and Undergraduate students of the University.

The latest reports has it that a lecturer at the University, Dr Bede Opata has taken his own life.

The School is yet to recover from the crisis that erupted 2 days ago between her Undergraduates and Postgraduate students at the Nsukka campus when another sad news filtered in from the Enugu campus of the University where Dr Opata is said to be a lecturer at the Faculty of Law.

The 38 year old Lecturer committed suicide over a yet to be confirmed reason.

VCN Inducts 40 Veterinary Doctors From UNN

The Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) has inducted 40 fresh graduates of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka during the 35th oath-taking ceremony of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Administering the oath, the VCN Registrar, Dr Marcus Avon, warned the Vet Doctors to shun unethical practices, saying the licence issued to them is just for one year and is subject to renewal by the council.

“The probation licence given to you to practise will expire in 2015. If any of you is found wanting within this one year, his or her licence will not be renewed.

You are expected to obey the ethics of the profession as well as respect your senior colleagues in the profession,” he said.

He congratulated the parents of the graduates for investing in the education of their children, saying education was vital to development.

In his reaction, the Vice-Chancellor of UNN, Prof Benjamin Ozumba said that he was optimistic that the graduates have been found worthy in character and learning by the university and appreciated the contributions of VCN in training of our veterinary students.

Prof Vincent Shoyinka, Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UNN, congratulated the new doctors and urged them to adhere to the ethics of the profession at all times.

Following the announcement of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Post-Utme screening details for 2014/2015, we have painstakingly researched and gathered the number of candidates that are eligible to participate in the screening examination. Former UNN VC Under EFCC's Spotlight For Misuse Of Funds

Men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrived the Nsukka campus of the University of Nigeria (UNN) for investigations over the alleged misappropriation of funds leveled against the former Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Bartho Okolo who just completed his 5-years tenure in office.

The UNN Alumni Association, workers’ unions in the university and the South Eastern Zone of the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) were among those who had accused the former VC of official wrongdoings in the handling of the institution's funds and award of contracts without following due process.

The alumni association alleged that more than N3 billion of the University fund was misused in Professor Okolo’s tenure.

They also accused the former Vice Chancellor of awarding road contracts worth nearly N100 million, paid more than 90 per cent of the contract sums and yet the contracts remained un-executed until the end of his tenure.

Proffessor Okolo is being investigated with some other top administrative officers during his tenure.

UNN Lecturer Emerges UNIABUJA New Vice- Chancellor

Following the expiration of the tenure of Professor James Adelabu as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), a new VC has been appointed by the Governing Council of the university to pilot the affairs of the institution for the next 5 years.

The new man at the helm is Professor Michael Umale Adikwu, a professor of Pharmacy from University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).

Professor Adikwu emerged as VC from a long list of 124 candidates who had applied for the post, which was later reduced to 10 and finally to three including Professors Umaru Garba Danbatta and Raheem Lawal.

Adikwu was born on 19th April 1963 in Amejo, Okpokwu Local Government Area, Benue State. He started his education at St. Paul’s Primary School, Utonkon between 1970 and 1975 before proceeding to Federal Government College, Jos in 1976.

In 1981, Professor Adikwu graduated from high school and gained admission to University of Nigeria, Nsukka to read Pharmacy and he graduated in 1986 with a second class honours (upper division) Bachelor degree.

He also obtained his Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Nsukka in 1989 and 1994 respectively.

Adikwu joined the services of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka as a Lecturer II in Pharmacy Department from 1990 and in 1995, he was appointed as the Head of Department, a position he held until 1998, the same year he was made a Professor of Pharmaceutics.

His second stint as Head of Department was between 2002 and 2004.

Until his appointment as UNIABUJA Vice Chancellor, he was the National Project Coordinator for Science and Technology Education Post-Basic (STEP-B-) Project in the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.

The appointment of Prof. Adikwu as the new vice chancellor is expected to unify a divided academic community, restore academic stability and normalcy in the university of Abuja. Congratulations to Professor M. Adikwu, your appointment is well deserved.

Directs Postgraduate Students to Pay all Outstanding Fees -UNN

The management of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has directed that all postgraduate students should mandatorily update their registration by paying all outstanding fees not later than Friday, 6th, June, 2014.

Any postgraduate students that fails to comply with the above deadline for clearing his/her fees may run the risk of losing his/her admission.
