LASU Re-opens Students Registration Portal

The Management of Lagos State University (LASU) at its meeting of Wednesday, 7th October, 2015, magnanimously approved the re-opening of the students’ registration portal for the Rain Semester of the 2014/2015 Academic Session.
The students’ registration portal will be re-opened from Monday, 12th October-Wednesday, 14th October,
2015.
The University Management re-opened the portal on compassionate ground after taking into consideration requests and appeals by the students.
Management thereby directs students who have not completed their online course registration to avail themselves of this opportunity, as there will be no further extension after the expiration of the approved duration.
It will be recalled that the students resumed for the Rain Semester of the 2014/2015 Academic Session on Monday, 31st August 2015, while registration portal had earlier been opened on Monday, 7th September, 2015 and closed on Monday, 21st September, 2015.

The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the   20th convocation ceremony schedule. All graduating students of the university as well as members of the general public are hereby informed.
The 20th Convocation ceremony of the Lagos state University (LASU) is scheduled to hold from March 18th to March 19th, 2015.

Governor Fashola of Lagos State is expected to commission some projects like Faculty of Science Building, Faculty of Law Twin Lecture Theatre Building and the LASU Radio during the event. Below is the highlight of the schedule.

LASU To Graduate 11,971 Students

The Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo 19th Convocation Ceremony which will hold on Wednesday, 6th August will see a total of 11,791 students awarded various degree certificates.

The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor John Obafunwa, made this disclosure during the convocation briefing in his office where he said that no Honorary Degrees will be awarded at the event due to the decision made by the Visitor of the University, Babatunde Fashola with the agreement of the Governing Council in 2012.

“The reason is because we do not want to join the bandwagon of universities that award such.

Ours is a prestigious university and the first state university in Nigeria,” Obafunwa said.

He said that other projects like the University Senate Building, the Central Library and the Campus Radio will be duly completed, adding that there would be no abandoned project during his tenure.

Lagos State Bursary Payment Details For LASU Students

The Lagos State Government has approved the payment of 2011/2012 Bursary Award to Lagos State University (LASU) Students who are indigenes of the State.

The Lagos State Scholarship Board hereby invites all beneficiaries to the documentation exercises scheduled to commence on Thursday July 31st, 2014.

Venue: Lagos State Scholarship Board office at 254, Ipaja Road, beside NYSC Orientation Camp, Agege, from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm daily in preparation for the payment.

All concerned beneficiaries are expected to come along with their relevant documents in order to collect their awards.

They should also come along with their Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) Identity Card and Parent’s or Guardian’s Tax Clearance Certificate.

Lagos State University (LASU) 2014/2015 Post UTME Registration deadline and Dates rescheduled

The Management board of the Lagos State University (LASU) through Scholars NG wishes to inform the general public, especially her prospecting students who applied or are willing to apply for the 2014/2015 Post UTME in the institution that the school has made some changes in regards to the Post UTME registration deadline and Exam dates.

The Post UTME registration deadline which was scheduled to end on 27th July has been extended.

The new closing date for On-line Registration is now 7th August, 2014.

Meanwhile, The screening which was earlier scheduled to hold on July 30th, 2014. will now Hold from August 9th, 2014.

ASUU LASU Strike Called Off

The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) of the Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) has called off the strike that rocked the institution for almost six weeks.

The announcement was made in a letter by the LASU ASUU Chairman, Dr. Kunle Idris, to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, which said that the congress of the ASUU LASU branch had after reviewing the industrial action it embarked upon on 20th May, 2014, decided to suspend the strike in the interest of all.

“Academic activities in LASU will resume immediately”, said Idris.

It will be recalled that before the suspension of the strike, ASUU had met with the management of the school on July 2nd where certain resolutions were reached and agreements were signed by the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. John Obafunwa and the ASUU-LASU chairman, Kunle Idris.

LASU To Refund Students N69million From School Fees

The information reaching our desk indicates that the authorities of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo have concluded plans to refund all students who have paid for the 2013/ 2014 academic session school fees, all payments in excess of the new school fees regime.

The LASU Governing Council had directed that students should be refunded the over N69 million school fees they paid, after the decision of the state government to reduce school fees.

Announcing this new development, the LASU Public Relations Officer (PRO), Kayode Sutton stated,

“In compliance with this directive, the bursary department has been charged to commence the compilation of the list of affected students, the amount involved and to proffer an appropriate mode of refund.”

It will be recalled that the Lagos State government has reduced the LASU school fees , which was hiked some years ago by 34 to 60 percent, depending on faculties following persistent protests from the students over the tuition hike.

LASU To Resume June 23, Implements New School Fees

The management of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo has announced that students are to resume academic activities on Monday, 23rd June as the reduced school fees have been implemented by the Governing Council.

It will be recalled that the LASU students was told to vacate campus as the students were protesting the school fees hike by the Lagos State government while ASUU LASU chapter was also on strike .

A statement released by the LASU PRO, Kayode Sutton,
reads: “Sequel to the Lagos State government’s agreement to the reduction of the Lagos State University School Fees by 34% to 60% across different faculties, the university management has come up with the precise amount to be paid by students in all departments and faculties.

In a swift compliance to this agreement, the Governing Council of the University has approved new school fees which now ranges between N76,250.00 for a final year student in the Arts Department (49.3% reduction), and N158, 250.00 for a 200 level Engineering and Medical (Direct entry) student.

“In the new school fees as approved by the Council, a 100 level student in the Adebola Adegunwa School of Communication will now pay N103, 250.00, and a 200 level student (Direct Entry) will be required to pay same fee, while a 200 level returning student pays N88,250.00.

For the College of Medicine, a fresh student is expected to pay N115, 750.00, ditto, a final year medical student, while a 200 level (Direct Entry) student in the same College pays N158,250.00, representing a 36.4% reduction.

“The approval also stipulated that a 100 level Engineering student pays N115,750.00 , while the returning students in 200_500 level will pay N143,250.00, N143,250.00, N131,750.00 and N106,750.00 respectively.

New entrants (100 level) in the Faculty of Management Sciences and a final year (500 level) student will now pay N103,250.00, N113,250.00, N98,250.00, N98,250.00, N86,750.00 and N86,750.00 respectively.

It is now left for the students to decide whether the new fees structure is acceptable as the Student leaders had earlier rejected the percentage decrease in the fees.

LASU Student Calls on Fashola To Make Reduction In Naira Not In Percentage

Speaking on Rubbin’ Minds, alongside the president of the Union, Nurudeen Yusuf, he noted that “when the fees was to be increased, the government came out to tell us how much we will be paying in naira and kobo” but “when they came out to announce the reduction, they announced the reduction in percentage” insisting that “this has created a lot of confusion” adding that what we are saying is the reduction should be announced in naira and kobo”

He said that the 34-60 per cent reduced by the government is still very high “because with the present reduction, a medical student will still be paying 250, 000 naira, a science student will be paying about 198, 000 naira” adding that “the lowest paying student of LASU, that is a student of Arts, will be paying 127,500 naira.

He said they had given Governor Babtunde Fashola a proposal of what they can be able to afford and “after meeting with the general student populace we came up with a proposal on how much we can pay; we came up with 46, 500 naira and 65, 500.

“So it is outrageous for the government to come out and tell us they have announced a 34-60 per cent reduction” insisting that “what we are saying is that the government should give us what we want”.

He went further to reveal that the Lagos State-owned institution needs about N10 billion to service its recurrent and capital expenditure for a year, noting that with a yearly budget of “over N400 billion, the government cannot come and tell us they cannot finance the institution”.

He argued that if Lagos State is to go by the UNESCO, a United Nations organisation which expects its members to “allocate 26 per cent” of their budgets to education, “then Lagos State University being the only university run by Lagos State government that needs just N10 billion will not have a problem of finance”.

He also wondered why other state-owned institutions in states with less vibrant economies than Lagos ar paying less amounts than students of LASU when “the economy of Lagos is more viable than some countries in West Africa”.

BREAKING: LASU Students Reject Lagos State Govt’s Percentage Reduction in Fees

The Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU) on Thursday rejected the 34 to 60 per cent across board reduction on the tuition fees approved by the state government.

The Union President, Mr Nurudeen Yusuf, in a news conference urged the government to give details of the reduction in terms of Naira and Kobo, as it did during the increment.

“We do not accept the percentage reduction of the government because in 2011, when the fee was increased, it was not done on percentage level but in Naira and Kobo.

“How do they expect our parents; the market women scrambling to pay our fees, to calculate the percentage,” he said.

Yusuf said the report of the Ad- Hoc Committee on the LASU fee review and the pronouncements of the state government do not favour the students.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Lagos State Government had on Wednesday announced a reduction of 34 to 60 per cent on the LASU tuition fees.

The reduction, followed several protests by the students and civil society groups.

The government had in 2011, increased the fee from N25, 000 to N193, 000 for Arts and Education courses and N350, 000 for medical students.

Gov. Babatunde Fashola met with the student union officials on April 3 and requested that the union should propose how much they can afford to pay, as a total reversal was impossible.

The Union submitted a proposal of N46,500 for returning students and N65,500 for fresh students, as the proposed new tuition fee. Yusuf disclosed that the union would only accept the percentage reduction, if it is at 67 per cent across board.

“We recognize the fact that the governing council is empowered by the law establishing LASU to consider the school fee,” he said. The union leader noted that the sincerity of the government on the matter was questionable, alleging that it selectively adopted the report of a visitation panel it had set up.

“We demand that the government reduce the fees on compassionate grounds,” he said. According to Yusuf, the government was only toying with the future and destiny of the state.

The LASUSU president demanded a public apology from the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, and the state government, over the “arrest, detention and brutalization” of some students during their protest to Alausa, Ikeja on June 3. (NAN)

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday announced the reduction of tuition fees of the Lagos State University (LASU) by between 34 per cent and 60 per cent.

Mr Fatai Olukoga, Special Adviser to Gov. Babatunde Fashola on Education, announced the reduction at a news conference in Ikeja.

He said the reduction, which cut across the different faculties and courses, was recommended by an Ad hoc committee set up to review the hiked fees and approved by the State Executive Council.

The Special Adviser said that the Governing Council of the University would issue details of what the reduction translated into and the fees payable by students in each department.

He said:“Government has approved the reduction by between 34 per cent to 60 per cent.

“In accordance with the law setting up the university, the government has forwarded its approval to the university `s Governing Council for consideration and implementation and implementation.

“Pursuant to its statutory mandate, the university Governing Council will issue details of what is now payable by students in each department and deal with all management matters of the university.“

Olukoga said the reduction of the fees would not preclude the giving of bursaries and scholarship to indigent students of the institution by the state government.

The special adviser said that the research fund sponsored by the state government would also be maintained to foster a culture of research and innovation in the university.

‘’Also, government will continue its increased spending on infrastructure and physical development of the university to reposition it,“ he said.

Olukoga said the government hoped the lecturers in the university would welcome the reduction of the fees and call off their strike.

The special adviser also expressed the hope that the students of the university would immediately suspend all agitation and resume normal school activities.

He said the government was passionate about repositioning LASU and would spare no efforts in transforming the institution to a citadel of excellence.

Meanwhile, the President of the institution`s Student Union Government, Nurudeen Yusuf, has described the reduction as unacceptable and a huge joke.

He told newsmen that the students were disappointed with the reduction as it was obscure and did not state specifically what each student would pay.

“When the fee was hiked, it was not by percentage, it was specific; now that they claim they are reducing it, they are talking percentage. This is unacceptable and a huge joke,“ he said.

NAN reports that the government in 2011 hiked the tuition fees from N25,000 to between N195,000 and N350,000.

The students had since staged various protests to challenge the hike, describing it as outrageous.

The governor had met with leaders of the students, who proposed the reduction of the fees to N46,500 for returning students and N65,500 for fresh ones.

The students had staged two protests at the Governor`s Office, Alausa, after the meeting ,demanding the implementation of their proposal.(NAN)

Fees Hike Protest: Police disperse Lagos State University (LASU) students who storm Fashola’s Office with teargas.

Policemen on Tuesday chased away students of the Lagos State University who stormed the Lagos Governor’s Office to demand reduction in the tuition.

The policemen bombarded the students with teargas canisters and shot into the air in a bid to disperse them.

The protesters had arrived at the Governor’s Office in three BRT buses and blocked the entrance.

They chanted anti- government songs before the policemen, many of whom were attached to the state’s Rapid Response Squad, swooped on them.

The policemen shot sporadically into the air and released teargas canisters into the midst of the students, causing them to scampering different directions.

The policemen chased the students to the other side of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where they pitched near the Magodo Estate gate.

It was learnt that two students and the driver of one of the BRT buses were arrested by the police, while the bus was impounded.

The policemen later barricaded the road leading to the Governor’s Office from the Lagos State House of Assembly.

President, LASU Students Union, Yusuf Nurudeen, said the students came to know why the state government had not announced the reduction in the school’s tuition after the committee set up by Fashola submitted its report on Monday.

He added, “We also learnt that the government will be meeting with the Governing Council of the school today and that is why we came. We were singing peacefully at the entrance of the Governor’s Office when the policemen started firing at us.

“It is sad because we came to hear the announcement of the reduction in school fees. The police cannot do this without the order of the governor.”

The LASU SUG president said three students were injured and had been rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, while two others were arrested.

He said, “They pursued and shot at us, but we will continue to protest.”

However, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lateef Ibirogba said the State Executive Council had yet to conclude on the school fees issue, adding that by Wednesday (today) the government would probably make its position known.

He declined to say whether there would be reduction in the fees or not, insisting that the details of government position would be made known to the public at the conclusion of the matter. (Punch)

LASU Fee Hike: Students Storm Fashola's Office With Beds, Pots

Lagos State University students lay siege to Fashola’s office with beds and pots. They vow not to return home until their colleagues are released and their schools fees reduced.

The Lagos State University students on Thursday stormed the office of Governor Babatunde Fashola at Alausa, Ikeja, and said they would not return home until their school fees were reduced and their arrested colleagues released unconditionally.

The students, who arrived at the office at about 3pm in over 10 buses, came along with mats, mosquito nets and cooking pots, among others.

To show their seriousness, the female students quickly swung into action, setting up firewoods to prepare beans near the entrance of the Governor’s Office.

The students also defied a downpour that threatened their demonstration, as they danced to solidarity songs and held mid-day prayers to seek divine intervention.

In a letter to Fashola, titled, ‘Save our future’, which was made available to PUNCH Metro, the students alleged that the tuition hike had taken education beyond their reach.

President of the LASU Student Union Government, Mr. Yusuf Nurudeen, said the students had resolved to fight their cause until their demands were met by the government.

He said, “Our school has been shut down. Students are dropping out of the university on a daily basis. We decided not to engage the party leaders because the people in government do not understand any language. The only language they understand is protest.

“We have resolved to fight this struggle by ourselves. We are a pressure group in the country. We can do this alone. We do not want any person to fight for us. We elected Governor Fashola. We elected all the members of the House of Assembly. They must listen to us.

“Fashola promised us a ‘Better Rewarding Future’. How can we have a rewarding future without education? He has denied us education by the tuition hike. Section 3(1) of the law that established LASU stated that the university should be made available for all people irrespective of their socio- economic background and status. Now, the governor has made LASU the university of the rich.

“We will not leave until we hear something from the government. We have gone everywhere and the police shot at us. That is why we decided to come here today and tell the governor what is on our minds. Also, our colleagues arrested by the police must be released unconditionally.

“If the governor refuses to come out, we will remain here until he comes out. If the governor can respond to issues that are less important than this, he should come out and respond to the students of the state he governs.”

As of press time, no official of the state government had attended to the students.

Fashola was said to have left for Port Harcourt to join his colleagues for the Nigerian Governors Forum retreat holding at the Rivers State Governor’s Lodge on Friday (today).

However, the commissioners for Information and Strategy, Aderemi Ibirogba, and Transportation, Kayode Opeifa, had on Wednesday, said the government would not be able to reach a conclusion on the tuition till June 9. (Punch)

LASG Claims Detractors Fuelled LASU Crises

The Information Reaching Scholars.Com. NG indicates that The Lagos State Government on Wednesday said the problems in the Lagos State University were being fuelled by people who were bent on derailing the government’s plans to reposition the school.

LASU students had on Tuesday clashed with the police during a protest march to the Oshodi Market to reportedly educate the traders on why the fees should be reduced.

The clash caused tension and paralysed traffic on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

But the Commissioner for Information and Strategy Mr. Lateef Ibirogba, and his counterpart in the Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, said some individuals in the state, who were neither students nor lecturers, hijacked the genuine agitation of the students.

The commissioners explained that the government had reached an agreement with the stakeholders on the way out of the crises, wondering why they had continued to escalate despite assurances from the government. Ibirogba said, “The government has put in place some measures to ensure that no student of the institution is left behind as a result of his or her inability to pay the fees. The government has doubled the students’ bursary and scholarship awards.

The research budget for the university has even been increased.

“When we were at the stadium for May Day celebration, some people who were not students came up with the issue of LASU fees. We were able to know that those that did that, were not our students.

” Also explaining government’s position, Opeifa said the student union government and National Association of Nigeria Students had met with the governor. Opeifa said, “The governor met with them twice and asked the students to give their position as to what they wanted the government to do; they sent in their reports.

“The lecturers wanted N50, 000 as the new fees, the students wanted N45, 000 and N65, 000. So there was a divergence of position and they could not agree on a common position on the 22 items raised.”

The commissioner said a committee raised to resolve the issue would reach a definite conclusion on June 9 after which government decision would be made public.

LASU Students: Protest Impending 30% Reduction in School Fees

The information reaching our desk indicates that the Students of Lagos State University (LASU) yesterday blocked the busy Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway to protest impending 30 per cent reduction in school fees by the state government.

Commuters who had plied the road had their travel time delayed by about one and half hours as the protesting students blocked the two ends of the road to press home their demand on the state government.

Men of the Area F command of the Nigerian Police Force led by their Divisional Commander, Mr. Emmanuel Ugwu were however on hand to ensure that the protest did not degenerate out of control.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the welfare director of the Faculty of Education, Mr Hakeem Akinola stated that they (the students) have rejected the 30 per cent reduction, which they claim was being dangled at them by the state government.

To him and the other students the only acceptable fee was for government to allow the payment of N46, 500 for returning students while fresh students are to pay the sum of N65, 000 as fees to the school.

“We are here because of our school fees, we have heard that the state government has decided to reduce the fees to be paid by 30 per cent from what they are asking us to pay. We are telling them that the only fee we can pay is N 45, 000 for returning students while freshers must pay N65, 000 as school fees,” Akinola said.

A government functionary who pleaded not to be named as he was not authorised to speak on the issue told LEADERSHIP in a telephone chat that the action was pre-emptive as government is yet to formally take a decision on the fees regime.

“Their action is pre-emptive, no decision has been taken on the issue,” the unnamed official said, adding, “May be you should ask them how they will feel if they get a better bargain from government from what they are requesting for now.” (Leadership)

LASU Students, LASG Holding Talks To Reach Agreement Over Fee Hike

The lingering dispute between the students of the Lagos State University (LASU) and the state government over tuition fees may soon be resolved as the parties have been holding talks on ways of reaching agreeable fees regime for the school.

Lagos State governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) who dropped the hint assured the students of the school that the state executive council is currently studying their paper to the government on the increase in their school fees, promising that where there is need for adjustment or amendment it would be effected accordingly.

It would be recalled that following several agitations by the students on the fees increase, the state governor met with them severally and it was agreed that the students should make their independent study and present to government a position paper on the way forward.

Fielding questions at a live television interactive session with media executives at the Lagos Television, Ikeja, Fashola said the students had presented the paper which is now before the executive council for consideration and approval.

He declared, “I have passed it out to the council. We have told the students that we are not inflexible and where we see the need for adjustment or amendment, we will do it so that they might understand it better”, noting, however, that going by the position paper, the students were not against the increase but the parameters used in calculating the fees.

Fashola reiterated that the increase in fees regime was one of the many recommendations made by a visitation panel inaugurated at the instance of the students in a petition to the House of Assembly.

“There were many recommendations made by the panel many of which we accepted. It is the school fees that have become so vexatious as it were. What we have done is that we looked across schools, federal and state and private schools and tried to stay somewhere in the middle”, the governor explained.

He said government also decided that the new fees was not going to affect sitting students but only new intakes. (Leadership)

LASU Students Urge Fashola to Direct Closure of Payment Portal

TheInformation reaching our desk indicates that The Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU) on Tuesday urged Gov. Babatunde Fashola to direct the closure of the institution’s payment and registration portal.

Mr Nurudeen Yusuf, the union’s President, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the closure of the portal was necessary until the government reduced the tuition fees.

“We hereby appeal that the payment and registration portal be closed till the government makes pronouncement on LASU fees as proposed by the students union.

“This is to ward off unforeseen eventualities that may arise in the nearest future,” he said.

Yusuf said the deadline by the management for students to pay their fees and register courses for the 2013/2014 academic session before May 30 has lapsed.

He said students were bent on their “no reduction, no resumption” policy and that discussions on how much the students would pay were still ongoing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Fashola, at a meeting with LASUSU on March 31, directed the students to come up with a proposal on how much they could afford.

The students decided that the fee should be reduced to N46, 500 for returning students and N65, 500 for fresh students.

The proposal by the students was submitted on April 24, while several reminders were sent to the governor on the issue.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Olayinka Oladunjoye, at a media briefing on May 8, said the government would soon make a pronouncement on fees.

Yusuf said the students were not satisfied with the government’s statement since the word ‘soon does not indicate a definite time”.

“If a 50-year- old can die and we say gone too soon, hence, anytime can be soon,” he said.

Yusuf said that sequel to several peaceful protests by the students, the State Exco Ad-hoc Committee met with the union on the review of LASU tuition on May 27.

He said the Committee, chaired by Mr Kayode Opeifa, the Commissioner for Transport, had decided that quality education could not be achieved based on the students’ proposal.

Opeifa said the tuition of N46, 500 would make LASU a university for the poor and all comers.

“The committee said the state government is subsidising education in LASU by 90 per cent and government is only responsible for free education up to secondary level,” he said. (NAN)

LASU Crises (School Fees Increase, Strike actions, etc): Lagos State Assembly Intervenes to put an end to them.

Lagos Assembly has resolved to put to rest all the challenges facing the Lagos State University, LASU, following the increase in the institution’s fees which has posed serious problems to students and parents.

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji disclosed this during a courtesy visit by members of the executive of LASU Alumni Association, who are seeking for prompt intervention of the House in the crises rocking the university.

Ikuforiji expressed happiness over the recent rating of the Law Faculty of the 30-year-old institution as the best in Africa and 14th in the world.

He said he was impressed with the way the Alumni executive took it upon themselves to find lasting solutions to problems of the institution.

According to him, “One of the attempts made by the House to sustain the institution was how the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) was convinced by the House not to de-accredit some courses in the institution including law. “

We had to send a delegation led by the current Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. (Hon.) Musibau Kolawole, to NUC office in Abuja, when they de- accredited eight courses in the institution, and even promised to go back there in two weeks to de- accredit more courses.

“Our intervention worked as the NUC Secretary was impressed with our intervention. We later approved a sum of N3 billion for development purposes in the school,” he said.

The Speaker, however,, added that a visitation panel set up by the Governor later recommended increase in the fees being paid by the students of the school, which he said has also led to many crises in the generation university.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Governing Board of LASU Alumni Association, who led the delegation to the House, Mr. Fatai Sonoiki, intimated the House of how they have been intervening in the issues affecting the school including convincing various labour unions in the school not to go on strike.

He further said that the association decided to come to the House of Assembly to prevent another round of strike action by unions in the school such as Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU), and Senior Staff Association of Universities (SSANU).

“The incessant strike actions in LASU are affecting the image of the school. We want the authorities to do something about the impending strike actions by the labour unions in the school. The House can call a meeting of LASU Governing Council, led by the Pro- Chancellor, university authority, led by the Vice- Chancellor and the unions in the university. The alumni association too can be invited to the meeting. The goal is to find a lasting solution to the instability in the school,” he said. (VanguardNGR)
