NSCDC Urges EKSU Students to Shun Political Thuggery

The Information Reaching Our Desk Indicates That The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) urges students of the Ekiti State University(EKSU) to shun political thuggery and other electoral violence in the coming gubernatorial election of the state.

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ekiti State Command, Mr Shem Obafaiye has requested the cooperation of the management of Ekiti State University(EKSU) in the prevention of crimes and other social vices in Ekiti State.

He said that with the governorship election around the corner, it became imperative to ensure that students of Ekiti State University are not involved as political thugs or participate in electoral violence.

Mr Obafaiye made the appeal during a visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oladipo Aina .

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oladipo Aina assured the NSCDC commandant that the current crop of students on campus have been undergoing re-orientation to improve their ethical values and behavioral attitude and promised that all hands would be on deck to monitor the students before and after the election.

Prof. Aina explained that the newly sworn in Students Union executives have shown commitment to peaceful growth on campus and would not be involved negatively in the electoral process.

The EKSU Vice-Chancellor commended the NSCDC for its efforts in crime control.
