N12.4billion Given to Polytechnics From Presidential Intervention Fund

The federal government has approved the sum of N12.4 billion from the presidential intervention fund for 51 federal and state polytechnics in the country.

The supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, said the fund is part the federal government’s commitment to the pursuit and promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria.

He also said that the government has approved the supply of equipment and the rehabilitation of the nation’s technical colleges at the sum of N6 billion in addition to the N15 billion already expended to rehabilitate the technical laboratories of 51 polytechnics.

This he said will increase the importance of education especially in the aspect of human capital development for the long-term development of the country.
