Students of YABATECH Beaten and Arrested by the Police during ASUP Strike Protest

The Report Reaching Our Desk Today indicates that about 50 students of the Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH who took to the streets to protest the ongoing strike by ASUP and the government’s insensitivity to it were beating up and arrested by the police.

According to the report, even the buses that were carrying the protesting students were badly damaged.

One Mr. Segun Akinpelu, a journalist with Sahara Reporters was also beaten while his camera and other gadgets were destroyed. The spokesperson of the Joint Action Front, whose members joined the students during the protest has condemned the attack on the students saying that it is a pointer to the fact that the government is not even ready to resolve the issue.
